Tech Stack
Key Features
- Infrastructure Migration (Cloud to Self-Hosted)
- Microservices to Monolith Refactoring
- Real-time Sports Stats Integration
- Blockchain & NFC Verification Support
- Automated News Scraping Engine
The Challenge
The existing microservices architecture on managed cloud providers was generating excessive costs and suffering from latency issues due to network hops between services.
Constraints & Scale
Migration had to be performed with zero downtime to support active trading of the $DRX token and ongoing league partnerships (Dewa United, PSM Makassar, etc.).
System Architecture
Migrated to a self-hosted infrastructure running a Modular Monolith. Utilized Golang for high-performance data processing and Bun/Hono for lightweight API services. Implemented Polyglot Persistence with PostgreSQL and MySQL, using Redis for aggressive caching.
Key Tradeoffs
Moved from Microservices to Monolith to prioritize operational simplicity and cost efficiency over strict service isolation. This tradeoff drastically reduced infrastructure bills and simplified deployment pipelines.
Measurable Results
Achieved a 60% reduction in monthly infrastructure costs, improved API response times by 40%, and successfully centralized data feeds for multiple sports leagues.
Project Details
Led the critical infrastructure transformation for DRX Asia, a pioneer in integrating blockchain technology with sports apparel. The project focused on migrating from a costly, fragmented microservices environment to a highly efficient, self-hosted modular monolith. I re-engineered the backend core using Golang and Bun/Hono to handle high-throughput data from the DRX Sportnet ecosystem. This included integrating real-time sports statistics (Liga 1 Football, Tennis, Padel), building automated news scrapers, and supporting the $DRX token ecosystem (listed on Binance & Ajaib). The centralization effort significantly reduced operational overhead while improving the reliability of NFC product verification and user gamification features.
